WHAT IS A PRIVATE CHEF AND HOW DOES THIS WORK
When you decide to reach out to Field & Forage to inquire about our services the best place to start is with the Contact Us form. This provides us with a great base of information about you, your event, and your specific needs. Once we receive this information we will put together a basic proposal as well as some questions to help us provide the best service for you. We will then reach out to you via your preferred communication method to finalize these details. At this point you will receive a quote for the services, once you decide to book you will pay a 50% deposit to guarantee the your date on our calendar. This price will include our admin costs, menu planning and development, groceries, prep, execution and detailed clean up after the event. It will also include any add on services that you have requested, or that we have suggested and you’ve accepted. Any modifications or add-ons can be made up to 72 hours in advance. We will reach out to you 10 days prior to your event just to touch base and finalize any changes or details. After this communication it will be your responsibility to contact us with any new information or changes. We will have an invoice for the final amount owed the day of the event, this invoice will reflect any pricing changes based on any of the changed you have requested prior to the event.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR SERVICES COST?
Field & Forage offers a large range of services and therefore the price varies greatly. Baked goods and Charcuterie drop-offs can be as low as $50 and private dining experiences can be as much as $100 per a person and beyond, it will depend on what all services you require. As a reference we do require a minimum of $400 per a service that a chef will be preparing your food. This could be a BBQ or a Weekly Meal Prep. The best way to know is to reach out and let us create a quote for you custom service!
HOW LONG DO YOUR EVENTS/SERVICES USUALLY LAST?
Field & Forage will arrive on site at a predetermined time to set up and preform any onsite prep. This can range between 1 and 4 hours prior to the first course depending on what services and add-ons you have chosen. Events typically take between 1-4 hours to execute. We will provide you a complete event schedule prior to the day of you service so you know exactly what to expect.
CAN YOU PROVIDE MENU SAMPLES?
Field & Forage is constantly updating our menu options based on seasonality, local product availability and our inspiration and interests. That being said we are always more than happy to share past menus as well as work with you to create new menu items specific to you needs. We encourage potential clients to view our Instagram page to see what food we are currently working on and have served in the past. We offer everything from whole hog BBQ to multi course wine pairings so we will be able to meet your needs!
DO YOU CATER TO ALLERGIES AND/OR DIETARY PREFERENCES?
Yes. We believe that our clients enjoyment of their food and life should not be limited by any dietary restrictions. We will never ask you to divulge the reason for your dietary restriction but you may let us know if you feel comfortable and it will help us meet your needs better. We will never share the specifics of you or your guests dietary needs with anyone outside of Field & Forage. We do ask that if you are hosting the event, or in charge of organizing it, that you get a full and complete list of all dietary restrictions or preferences for your guests.
HOW DO I PAY?
We accept credit/debit cards, checks, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo and/or cash. You will receive an online invoice that same day after your services are rendered which will provide different options for you to submit payment.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL YOU COOK FOR?
We offer services that are specialized for as little as 1 person and up to 200 people. Each service will have its own limitations, for example a mulitcourse wine dinner has a max guest count of 15 while a whole hog BBQ can serve up to 200. That being said if you have a special event and you contact us with enough of a lead time, we will always work to fulfill your needs!
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Our cancellation policy applies to cancellation for all reasons. Cancellation 30 days prior will be refunded in full, you may also choose to leave your deposit on file for any future event, any new event will require a new estimate calculated. Cancellation 29 day to 14 days prior to event, your deposit will remain on file for your use in the future. Cancellation 13 or fewer days, your deposit will be forfeited, the only exception being if we can re book an event equal too or exceeding the total cost of your booking, in that case we can retain your deposit on file for your use in the future.
WHAT DOES FIELD & FORAGE MEAN?
I chose the name Field & Forage because I felt it described the ethic of how I approach conducting our business. I view the term Field as representing the well established systems of food production, culinary technique, and types of service. We are blessed to have many fine chefs, farmers and hospitality professionals go before us, and we are blessed to have access to their beautiful products and knowledge. The term Forage represents the the constant pursuit of new and wild ingredients, techniques and hospitality processes. We literally forage for the finest wild ingredients as well as constantly searching for new artisan producers and ideas in hospitality so that we can continually improve our services.
